What is AirCrete?

Aircrete is the home-made version of Cellular Cement also refereed to as AAC or Autoclaved Aerated Cement.  Portland cement is inflated 6 times in volume with microscopic bubbles of air.  This air creates an light weight insulating structural material similar to a fiberglass wall.  The homemade version is cured over a 28 day period while the commercial version is quick cured with steam which provides heat and moisture.  AirCrete is NOT a code approved material and you are NOT going to simply pull a permit without substantial effort on your part to get a variance and a bank is NOT going to finance it.  However, some people have gotten code approval and financing through private investment brokers or by simply telling the institutions that they are using AAC or masonry structures.  Best suited to people who live in free zones and outside cities as well as people who don't ask permission or build "non occupied storage structures.

Building with AirCrete almost allows anyone to build and finish their own home for $38 per Square Foot!  The shell actually only cost $9/SqFt.  Finishing is the majority of the cost as it is in any home.
